Contract research organization (CRO) is the legal body entrusted by the sponsor of a clinical trial to undertake, partially or in full, duties and functions related to the conduct of trial. Most commonly, CRO tasks consist in assuring and controlling the conduct of a clinical trial according the study protocol, standard operation procedures, Good clinical practice provisions and requirements of regulatory authorities.
